general steps
1| Understand & Define
We begin by working closely with cohousing groups to understand shared values, aspirations, and long-term goals. Through a series of workshops, we develop a clear framework for the site, common house, and private home programs, aligning spatial needs with affordability and sustainability objectives. This phase establishes a shared foundation for informed, collective decision-making.
2| Design & Develop
Design is an iterative and collaborative process shaped by input from the group through workshops, combined with our decades of experience and best practices from cohousing projects in the U.S. and Europe. We develop the site plan, common house, and private homes in parallel, keeping the overall design clear, efficient, and grounded in real-world constructability, cost, and performance.
3| Realise & Adapt
We support the transition from design to construction, working closely with consultants, contractors, and the community throughout delivery. Our role is to ensure the design is translated clearly and efficiently into built form, while maintaining alignment with budget, schedule, and performance goals. As the project progresses, we help navigate real-world constraints, refine details, and adapt strategies where needed.

Bozeman Cohousing is an award-winning, net-zero energy community designed through a participatory process, combining affordability, sustainability, and strong social connection.
Hope Family Village
An intergenerational cohousing community in Virginia focused on people living with mental health conditions and their families, combining private homes, supportive shared living, and community land trust ownership to foster connection, dignity, and long-term care.
Cheney Cohousing
A cohousing community in Cheney, Washington, focused on creating a connected, walkable neighborhood where private homes are supported by shared spaces and collaborative living. It is being developed through a participatory process to foster affordability, sustainability, and strong community life.
