This project focuses on the capital renewal of an existing multi-building condominium community, with the goal of improving long-term building performance, durability, and resilience while maintaining the character of the existing development.
We conducted a study to examine strategies for upgrading the exterior building envelope, including material selection and wall assembly performance in a cold climate context. Key considerations included energy efficiency, moisture management, fire resistance, cost effectiveness, and long-term durability. Several enclosure approaches were evaluated to reduce risk of deterioration and improve overall building health.
The findings support a comprehensive envelope upgrade strategy that strengthens the buildings’ long-term performance while preserving the existing architectural identity of the community.
